Health & life

This week was quite interesting.  Mostly, because we have been
dealing with some health issues... none to serious, but certainly quite a reality check.

Peyton has had trouble with her breathing ever since she was born.  Now that she is 4 months old, my pediatrician sent us to a Pediatric Pulmonary Specialist, and he wanted some testing done.  Specifically, and Upper GI scan.  So, on Friday afternoon Paul and I took Peyton down to Cardon's Children's Hospital to get the test done.
 Getting ready for the scan...

Pretty little Peyton in her hospital robe

They dressed us up too! ;)
Paul and i had to wear heavy aprons to avoid radiation (?)
from the x-ray scan.
Peyton was so good during the exam!

They had her all strapped up on a board, but she didn't cry at all!

The scan tested how her throat, stomach, and intestines absorb/take in fluid.  It was cool to see Peyton drinking a bottle of solution, and then seeing it come up on the computer screen (like an x-ray) as it went into her body.  We should get the results back within a few days!  :)  Hoping for good news.

Anyways, Paul and i were in for a shock this week as well.  We bought a scale from Costco, since we are trying to start a new goal of becoming healthier.  Well, let me just say... YIKES!  Although i don't think that we LOOK like we are fat, i was not happy by the numbers on the scale.  So, Paul and i are going to try to start eating better.  Drinking more water.  Exercising each weekday.  Getting toned.  And loosing a lot of weight.   (Especially for me) I can't believe how much having kids can change your body.  This baby-weight thing is ridiculous! :)  And, i guess it doesn't help that i have self-image issues anyways, so the numbers on the scale means everything to me... It's hard too to find time to exercise when i have 2 kiddos that need me, and gym memberships are pricey, and life gets busy.  But, i know that fitness and health is important.  And so, Paul and i have set some goals and are hoping to make some healthy lifestyle changes.  Wish us luck !

  2. Don't be too hard on yourself, Kristi. Having babies changes your body--and it may not be healthy for you to be back to weighing what you once did. Just be careful.
