This week was a simple one, although one main event stood out--- Paul's 26th Birthday was on Thursday!  Hurray!  So, in celebration, we made it as fun as possible.  Thursday day, the girls and I surprised Paul by showing up to his new job with a beautifully made cake (from costco), for him and all his co-workers to enjoy!  We ate lunch together at Jason's Deli, and i was so sad because i forgot my camera!  Later that evening, we doubled on a date with Chelsea & Danny and went to Joe's Farm Grill for dinner, and then to the movies (Snow White & the Huntsman- great movie!)  Paul's big gift this year was a pricey one, but one that he truly has wanted for some time... i bought him a PLAYSTATION!!! He was quite thrilled.  Although we had fun, Paul's birthday PARTY wasn't until Saturday...

Although we had fun, Paul's birthday PARTY wasn't until Saturday...

So, i had been planning this for a few weeks.  I knew what party theme to do: "a guy's only- out in the desert- shooting stuff is fun- manly men with guns" party.  It was a surpirse!!!!!--- oh wait, until paul spied on my emails and ended up blowing my big plans.  (And yes, i cried).  BUT, he felt bad, and was very excited.  
So, at 6AM the guys all met at our home for amazing breakfast burritos (yep, i can cook!) and then headed off into the desert to blow stuff up, shoot clay pigeons, and just have some good quality male bonding.  Although i wasn't there, it sure sounded like everyone had a great time and that it was a huge success!  Glad Paul has such great friends... and that no one shot their own foot or anything  :)

Oh, and last but not least.... 

our little miss PEYTON is 9 weeks old!!!  

• weighs 10 lbs. 4oz. and is 22in. long (right between the 25% - 50% percentile)
• smiles a lot! Mostly for Paul though.  
• makes "coo"-ing noises
• likes to look at her hands
• moving/wiggling now on purpose, with vigor
• likes to sit up in bumbo and look around
• awake a bit more during the day- but sleeping through the night from midnight-8am!!!
• still loves her swing and being held
• drinking 4 oz. every 3 hours... doctor says she may have reflux (spits up a lot)

Happy "Daddy's" Day!

This week we mostly spent our time with 2 sickly little girls!  This meant cleaning up vomit, doctor's visits, sleepless nights, ear infections, humidifiers, ER trips, tears, medicine, and more tears!  But thankfully the week is over, and the girls are back to being healthy.
Well, today was a very special day, Father's Day!  (Or Daddy Day!)  It was great to spend the day relaxing, attending church, having family time, opening Paul's gifts, and making/enjoying a special pot roast dinner (my 1st time ever making a pot roast!)  We sure think Paul is great! So, i thought i would share just a few of the many qualities that make Paul such a wonderful  husband and father:

Paul is affectionate.  He hugs, holds hands with, cuddles, and cares for our girls.  Whether it's giving piggy back rides or changing diapers, Paul does it with love and gentleness.  He also is very sweet in that he always walks in the door from work and instantly gives me a big hug and kiss.  And he never leaves for work in the morning without a quick kiss goodbye (even if I'm half asleep, which is usually the case).

He is patient.  Paul is very patient with Brightlie (and me).  In our 4 years of marriage, I can truly that he has never once raised his voice/yelled at me.  Sure, we have disagreements, but Paul is always calm.  And especially with Brightlie (and dealing with her "terrible 2's" phase) he never yells, but is firm and kind. 

 Paul helps with discipline.  He is always fair, but he is loving and firm with Brightlie.  He gives her lots of attention and love, without allowing her to be bratty or spoiled.  He is not afraid to help by supporting me in sending her to time out, or talking with her about her attitude if it needs adjusting.  He lets her know that he knows, that she is a good girl and can make good choices.

 He is a player.  That's right.... he plays "kitchen"... he helps B play dress-up.  He plays with stuffed animals. He plays outside & at the park.  He plays "horsey" via piggy-back rides, and "monster" as they chase each other around the house.  He is Brightlie's best pal!

 Paul is hard working.  He works hard each day to provide for our family, and give us financial stability. Living with 3 girls, he knows the importance we (I) place on things like clothes, shoes, bows and toes! Recently Paul has been very generous in letting me go once a month to the Salon to get my nails done.  It is an hour vacation that allows me to get pampered and have a little peace of mind all by myself.  And even though Paul works hard at his job, he is always complimentary of me as a full-time mom.  It may seem small, but i truly love him for his kindness and love, and his appreciation for my job as a homemaker.

 Paul is the Priesthood holder in our home. He prays for, with and in behalf of me and our children.  He has a love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He loves our Heavenly Father.  He strives in all aspects of life to be Christ-like and holds tight to his high moral standards/beliefs.  His good works and integrity are such a great example to me and our children.

 He is a family man.  He truly loves being a dad, and a husband, and is happily married.  He always tells me how happy he is with our life together.  While at ASU, some of his friends would joke with him about married life, or even state how crazy it was that he was so young, and already a dad, and ask if the responsibilities of being a husband and father were too much.  It made me smile that Paul would tell me this, and add that he was proud of his life/our family, and wouldn't trade us for anything!

 He is an esteem-builder.  Paul is very good at giving compliments (to me, and our girls).  He tells Brightlie that she is smart & applauds her when she shows him something new that she has learned. He tells her she is beautiful.  He praises her when she makes good choices.  He helps build her confidence, and thus he is teaching her by example that she is worthy of a man someday who will always treat her with respect and dignity.

 Finally, Paul is a wonderful husband.  He treats me like a Queen.  He talks with me about our goals and dreams.  He helps with our home and our children.  He is intelligent and spiritual.  He is hard-working and has great plans for our future.  He gives me love and attention, and puts our family first. He is respectful of my feelings, and is considerate. He is loyal and believes in our marriage.  He is my best friend. (And of course, he's hott!)  I hope that one day that our daughters will choose wonderful men to marry, because of the example of their father.  We love you so much Paul!  Thanks for all you do!!!!!

WE are FAMILY

I love seeing Brightlie & Peyton together each day,

juts admiring each other!  I hope that they will be more than just sisters-

I want them to be BEST friends! Trouble-makers & memory makers! 

As a mama, I am so happy that I have these 2 adorable

little girls in my life!!! I just love dolling them up, and 

can't wait to do super girly activities with them as teens!

(Hair, makeup, mani-pedis, shopping, etc.!)

 And Brightlie is a great Big Sister- she loves

Peyton and is quite caring.

I can't wait for the 2 of them to be able

to play together, all day, everyday!

And despite what other may think, 

Paul LOVES having 2 little Princesses- They are

certainly "daddy's little girls" all the way!  

He wouldn't trade them for anything or anyone (any "son")!

THIS PAST WEEK...

For our date night this weekend, we went on a double date with the Ellingsons!

We sure love getting together with them and laughing/talking over delicious food!

We at ate Baci's (it's Italian)- AMAZING!!!

Also some highlights of this past week included:

-Brightlie doing swim lessons!

She has cried everyday this past week; her poor teacher is being so patient. I hope she 

will do better this week! She is a good swimmer, just has a hard time

without mom being in the pool with her. (One more week to go...)

- We bought a new car!!!

It was a big decision, but we prayed about it &

feel good about our choice! Yesterday we bought a 

2007 Subaru Tribeca , 53K miles, soft turquoise color,

5 passenger but lots of space,

sun roof, tinted windows, gps screen/rear view camera,

beige leather interior, looks like new, and we LOVE it!

Memorial Day and more!

Okay, so i am a little behind, but here is a very quick picture

 post of what has been happening lately!  :)

MEMORIAL DAY...

Memorial Day was super fun, as we spent it 

with Tiffany and Richard (and Richard's family).  Nothing like a 

pool party/bbq with your bff/cousins!

& then there is 

 DAILY LIFE....

Brightlie loves any chance she has to go swimming, and we

have been doing lots of that already! She also began 

swim lessons this week- fun!

 Paul and I have been stressing this week, but we are happy that we can 

stress out together!  (Trying to figure out our budget, looking into 

refinancing our home, needing to buy a new car since Paul's is 

almost totally dead, etc.)

 But, at least Paul is loving his new job!!!!

And it is great to have home home in the evenings with NO hw to do! 

Peyton is my sweetie... but

she has lately gotten into a bad habit of thinking that

she needs to be constantly held, or else her world comes to

a end!  So, that has been stressful for mom, but

at least i get to cuddle my baby!

 Brightlie was thrilled to have our neighbors cat come over to play

the other afternoon!  She loves animals!!! (when it hoped over the back fence,

 i was pretty worried) Butt hank goodness he was a super friendly cat-

B carried him, held him, petted him... and cried when it was time to come inside.

She was so happy to have a new furry friend! They played together 

for over an hour. Maybe he we visit more often now that he

knows B is around to give him love and attention.

independent soul!

Chelsea & Peyton 

One of our favorite people to spend time with is 

Aunt Chelsea--- Peyton and Brightlie are so lucky to 

have such a wonderfully fun Aunt (and Uncle) who love to

spoil them and give them tons of attention!

Peyton is sucha  sweetie!!!  Oh, we just love her!

Brightlie is such a good big sister to her and loves to be around

her!  And in my opinion, each day Peyton looks more and more

like Brightlie, which is fun  :)  I'm excited for these girls to be best friends, 

and am so glad we have these two special ladies in our lives!!!!
